Dr. Martha Martin
 is a licensed psychologist in the State of Washington, and also is licensed in
Arizona.  She graduated from the University of Washington with two Bachelor degrees: one in Vocal
Performance and another in Psychology.  After moving herself and her son from Washington to
Arizona, where she obtained a Masters degree in Counseling, she went on to complete her Ph.D. in
Counseling Psychology, a total of thirteen years of education.  She is currently married, and has two grandchildren.

Dr. Martin has been professionally trained as a counselor and psychologist, with 25 plus years of active
experience beyond her education.  She has been an instructor at the community college as well as
university level and has several articles published regarding research in counseling and mental
health.  Dr. Martin has developed and presented workshops and trainings for community
organizations.

Dr. Martin has counseled a variety of people, including individuals with depression, anxiety, stress
and trauma, as well as with transitional and lifestyle concerns.  She currently works with people from
the ages of thirteen to ninety-five, and is experienced with a diversity of cultures and ethnicities.

Dr. Martin is also an active member of the American Psychological Association.

Dr. Martin offers expertise in counseling couples, assisting them through difficult periods in their relationships, and facilitating more positive experiences with each other.  Dr. Martin is adept at assisting families with  parenting adolescents, step family issues, and Attention Deficit Disorder both for teens and adults.   She is skilled in working with concerns of women, particularly those over forty.  “My passion is to help people make permanent lifestyle changes, which includes emotional balance, physical health, social and relational skills, and finding serenity”.

Dr. Martin offers brief counseling with goal oriented sessions.  Clients are active in their change process, and are offered several options in obtaining their desired changes.  Dr. Martin also offers education and information in assisting clients with other professionals, such as naturopaths, medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, as well as traditional medical professionals. She is a psychologist and counselor for Camas, Washougal, Brush Prairie, North and East Clark County, Skamania County, and also the Vancouver and Portland area.

About her choice to become a Counseling Psychologist, Dr. Martin says “I find this the most rewarding of careers, since I am privileged to observe the strength of the human spirit.  People that seek my help have taken the most difficult step; reaching out to another human being in a time of great vulnerability.  I recognize and respect the courage it takes to ask for help, and do all that I can to facilitate a positive experience so that individuals feel stronger and more empowered.”

Dr. Martha Martin grew up in the Camas/Washougal area, graduating from Washougal High School.   Her office is  located in downtown Washougal in a very central location.  Her office atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, in a discrete location to protect your privacy, with plenty of parking and other shopping opportunities.  Her office is located at 82 Washougal River Road, Suite 110, Washougal, Washington.

 Dr. Martin says “”I love this area, and feel blessed to be able to work and live in the area that I grew up.  It seems that I’ve come full circle, bringing what I know to the town that I really love.  Being a child of a mill worker, I’m familiar with the local culture and history, and also have knowledge of the new folks that are relocating to this area as well.  I am grateful to be part of this vibrant community, and doing what I love in such a beautiful area.”
